Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, the chairman of the group founded the Basma Group in 2005 in the Emirate of Sharjah, to be one of the largest investment institutions in the Emirate of Sharjah in particular and the United Arab Emirates in general. The group has many fully-owned companies and others partially-owned in partnership with strategic partners. The Group is involved in many economic, industrial and service sectors, and provides its services and products to both the local and regional markets.

The chairman of the Basma Group Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi is a member of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah and also holds the position of the chairman of the Sharjah Media Council .As an appreciation for his relentless services towards the society and for his endeavors in influencing and raising humanitarian awareness among the community he was recently elected by the Big Heart Foundation as a humanitarian envoy. He is also a dynamic leader who possesses a great media stature and is widely known for his charismatic personality. His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Arkansas State University in Arkansas, U.S.A. and a Master of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems from University of Detroit Mercy in Michigan, U.S.A.

HE Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi also holds several other prominent positions, including his position as Deputy Chairman of the Sharjah Petroleum Council, Chairman of the Sharjah Pipeline Company (Anabeeb), Deputy Chairman of the Sharjah LPG Ltd. (SHALCO), Chairman of the Sharjah National Oil Company. Chairman of the Sharjah General Services Company (Khadamat), Chairman of TilalProperties LLC, Chairman of Eskan Real Estate Development LLC, Chairman of Arcadia Middle East LLC, Chairman of Klampfer Middle East LLC, and Chairman of Arada Developments LLC. He also held the position of Deputy Chairman of Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club, Chairman of Green Planet LLC, and Chairman of Sharjah Commercial and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA).He played a major role in the launching of the Sharjah Water Festival and theF1 Powerboat Race(Formula 1), and chairing the Board of Directors of the Medical Waste Company (WEQAYA) LLC, the launching of the Sharjah Light Festival, chairing the Executive Committee of the Sharjah Islamic Culture Capital, and the establishment of Al Majaz Amphitheatre, the first of its kind in the region.

HE Sheikh Sultan also received the Arab League’s ”Media Personality of the Year 2016“ award in recognition of his outstanding achievements, including:
  • Establishment of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau ( formally known as Sharjah Media Centre)
  • Restructuring of Sharjah Media Corporation, which includes Sharjah TV, Sharjah Radio, Sharjah Sports Channel and many more.
  • Launching the International Photography Festival, the first of its kind in the Middle East.
  • Launching OMNESMedia.com, the first professional media network portal.
  • Launching the International Government Communication Forum, the first of its kind in the region.
  • Establishing the Government Communication Department of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau.
  • Launching the Sharjah Government Communication Award
  • Launching the Sharjah Events Portal.
